7th Grade Trophy Speech Meet

Congratulations to our 7th grade students who participated in the Archdiocesan Trophy Meet at St. Vincent de Paul on March 27.  Cody Mulnix and Kristina Greatorex received ratings of Very Good, and Ray Young and Michael Hoeft received Superior ratings. Thank you to their speech coach, Ms. Mackenzie, and to their critic, Mrs. Gerding.

John Beckman won the Medicine and Health Sciences Award from the Department of Family Medicine University of Colorado Denver. John participated in the 2010 Denver Metropolitan Regional Science and Engineering Fair on February 24th.

Mathematics League Contest

On an unannounced day in February, each student in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade is presented a copy of forty math questions that pertain to their grade level. For thirty minutes, they work as fast and as accurately as they can on the forty mathematics problems, striving to be the top five in their class. Occasionally, there is a tie for a position. The top five from each class go onto Mr. Friedrich’s wall of fame, where they will remain year after year. Included on the wall of fame are the highest scores ever per grade, from which former students can get bumped.

6th Grade- Nick Haight, Frank Policky, Mary Major, Deborah Jablonski, Ryan Eto, and Rebecca Moser

7th Grade- Mary Major, Cody Mulnix, Ray Young, Nicole Marrill, and Kristina Greatorex

8th Grade- Ben Moser, Emma Konizeski, Sara Irick, Nicholas Beckman, and Tia Valdez

Archdiocesan 7th Grade Open Speech Meet
Congratulations to the 7th Grade Speech Team and to their coach, Ms. Mackenzie.  The following students earned a superior rating for their group piece:  Cody Mulnix, Michael Hoeft, Ray Young, and Ellen Major.  Kristina Greatorex and Ray Young also won Superior ratings for their individual speeches. 

Science Fair Results

Congratulations to all of the Science Fair participants. We are proud of everyone’s efforts. The 4th & 5th grade Science Fair projects were fascinating. The judges were very pleased! Judges for the 6th – 8th grade projects, science teachers & principals from other Catholic schools, commented about how interesting the projects were. Geography Bee

The St. Louis 2010 National Geography Bee competition, sponsored by National Geographic Magazine, was held on Friday, January 16th at 2:00 pm.   There was a tie for third place between Kristina Greatorex and Lucy Major, second place went to Tia Valdez, and first place went to Monica Konizeski. Congratulations to our Geography Bee winners!

Respect Life Essays

The Respect Life Office would like to thank Mr. Giddings and St. Louis School for the fine essays received for the 2010 Respect Life Essay Contest: “Every Child Brings Us God’s Smile”. These students’ compositions showed an understanding of the Catholic Church’s teachings on the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death, and the importance of sharing our pro-life beliefs with others. Congratulations to the following students:  Nicholas Beckman who won the contest, and John Beckman, Sara Irick, Emma Konizeski, and Ben Moser who were commended for their work.

Archdiocesan Eighth Grade Trophy Speech Meet

Congratulations to the 8th Grade Speech Team and their coach Mrs. Gerding.  Emma Konizeski won a 2nd place trophy in Impromptu; John Beckman, Nicholas Beckman, and Ben Moser scored Superior during the meet. The team took home 2nd place overall!

Congratulations to our Kinders!
The Kindergarten class took 1st place in the Fire Safety Prevention Poster Contest for 2009. They will receive an ice cream social with the Englewood Fire Fighters. 

8th Grade Speech Meet Results
Our 8th grade speech team was very successful at the Open Meet on Saturday, October 17. St. Louis participants Emma Konizeski and Nicholas Beckman received Blue ribbons, Ben Moser received a red ribbon, and John Beckman received a white ribbon.  Congratulations to the team and to their coach, Mrs. Lisha Gerding.

St. Louis Artists Honored

Congratulations to Edward Konizeski and Ellis Burke.  Ellis and Edward’s artwork is among the “Top 50” finalists for the City of Englewood’s annual calendar contest.  They will be honored at a reception on November 5th.  Their artwork will be displayed in the Museum of Outdoor Arts from November 5th – December 4th.
