Mathematics League Contest 2008 On an unannounced day in February, each student in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade is presented a copy of forty math questions that pertain to their grade level. For forty minutes, they work as fast and accurately as they can, striving to be in the top five in the class. Occasionally, there is a tie for a position.
The top five from each class go onto the middle school's math wall of fame, where they will remain year after year. Included on the wall are the highest scores ever per grade, from which former students can be bumped. This year’s top five from each class are:
6th Grade: 1st – Daniel Gibbons 2nd – Tia Valdez 3rd – Josh Poppenberg Tied for 4th John Beckman, Sarah Jablonski, Sara Irick, Emma Konizeski, Sam Policky

Geography Bee The annual St. Louis 2008 National Geography Bee competition, sponsored by National Geographic Magazine, was held on Friday January 11th at 2:00 pm. The local bee is to determine our school winner, who will then go on to a written exam. This year’s participants were: Kristina Greatorex, Ellen Major, Sam Policky, Aaron Graham, Lauren Kearney, Ryan Haight, Patrick Innerst, Sarah Magin, Joni Maxson, and Mary Nguyen.
Congratulations to our winners! Third place went to Joni Maxson, second place went to Ryan Haight, and first place went to Patrick Innerst. This is the second year in a row Patrick has taken first place in the Bee. |
